For the first time in Denmark, the Geomatics Engineering programme combines local aspects, mapping and GIS, and global aspects, satellite-based earth observation and monitoring – two important aspects of the national and international geodetic research of the future.
 
As a student of geomatics engineering, you gain qualifications to work in the fields of surveying and mapping. You will become an expert in data management and storage, data modelling and analysis of area use and management (GIS).
 
With sound knowledge of technologies for surveying, mapping and geographic information systems, you will become an expert in positioning with GPS and Galileo, mapping using digital photos, laser and radar measurements from aeroplanes and satellites, data management and design of databases, plus visualisation and analysis of spatial data. You will also become skilled in space-based earth observation and global monitoring.
 
Graduates are particularly attractive to surveying and mapping companies such as COWI, Rambøll and Blominfo, GIS companies such as Atkins, Informi GIS and Niras, major surveying companies and public authorities such as the National Survey and Cadastre (Kort og Matrikelstyrelsen), the Danish Road Directorate (Vejdirektoratet), the National Environmental Research Institute (Danmarks Miljøundersøgelser), regions and municipalities. Within earth observation, companies such as DHI, European public authorities such as ESA and the EU are relevant.
