Courses

I collaboration with DTU Electrical Engineering and DTU Informatics, DTU Space offers the following courses in connection with the study line Geomatics Engineering

02501 Digital image analysis, vision and computer graphics

The objective of the course is to give a general introduction to image analysis, computer vision, and computer graphics, and to enable participation in advanced courses in these fields. The course is aimed at engineering students in general.

30510 GPS, GIS and Setting out

The objective of the course is to give an all round knowledge of GPS, GIS and technical surveying techniques through practical exercises and projects and to give an introduction to geoinformatics for students that want to continue with specialized courses in this area.

30530 Geographic Information Systems

The objective of the course is to introduce the basic concepts of Geographical Information Systems (GIS). To give an insight into spatial information and geodata.

30540 Mapping from Aerial and Satellite Images

The objective of the course is to provide knowledge of instruments and methods used for mapping and analysis of the surface of the earth. The course includes digital photogrammetric and spectral methods for topographic mapping and related techniques for analysis of digital image data for thematic mapping, earth observation and change detection.

30550 Satellite positioning

The objective of the course is to provide a good knowledge of the mathematical processing and modelling principles used for conventional positioning and navigation with GPS and similar systems such as Galileo and Glonass (together referred to as GNSS). Routines and algorithms are implemented in Matlab and by the end of the course the participants can estimate a position from real GPS data.

02585 Computational Geometry Processing

Many engineering disciplines require methods for handling geometry via a computer. For instance, this is the case in the fields of computer graphics, physical simulation, medical science, image analysis, and signal analysis. The aim of this course is to teach methods for the handling and processing geometry. The teaching is on a level which enables the student to construct software for handling specific problems pertaining to the topics taught. It is furthermore the goal to give the student an understanding of the problems related to the discretization of continuous geometry as well as advantages and disadvantages of various methods for doing so.

30350 Remote Sensing

Radar and radiometer systems are used from satellites and aircrafts to measure and monitor the surface of the Earth, including the land surfaces, the oceans and the atmosphere. This is called remote sensing or Earth observation and is of utmost importance for the monitoring of the Earth’s environment and climate. The general course objectives are to provide the students with an understanding of those radar and radiometer techniques and systems, that are used for remote sensing, with a special emphasize on the technical description of the sensors, and on the application of these techniques for measuring and monitoring of properties of the surface of the Earth. This also includes knowledge about the necessary data processing techniques.
