DTU Space has provided the primary support structure for the Mid Infrared Instrument on the Telescope. DTU Space has obtained support from the ESA PRODEX Programme and has agreed a contract with the Danish ACE/XPERION company for production and testing. Through this, Danish astrophysicists will be involved in the preparation of the JWST Science Programme.
The James Webb Space Telescope is designed for observations in the infrared spectrum and is expected to be launched in 2011.
