Satellites can be beneficial in the authorities' surveillance and monitoring work and in connection with operational tasks, e.g. within the areas of environment, security and transportation. National Space Institut assists the Danish authorities in benefiting from satellite-based systems.
The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, the Land Consolidation Agency under the Danish Ministry of the Environment, the Greenland Home Rule Authorities, and the US Department of Defense are all examples of government agencies that make use of DTU Space's services.
DTU Space gives advice e.g. on monitoring and control work and carries out operational assignments within environment, security and transportation.
In addition, DTU Space participates in the Danish Ministry of the Environment's newly established programme monitoring the inland ice and the Danish Continental Shelf Project north of Greenland.
