We are looking for a skilled and experienced project manager to support scientific analysis of satellite data.
 
The Job
The primary responsibility will be planning and coordination of data processing activities as well as contract management, in particular related to the Swarm satellite mission.
 
Swarm is a satellite constellation designed to explore the Earth’s magnetic field, funded by the European Space Agency (ESA). DTU Space has a leading role in Swarm and coordinates the Swarm Data, Innovation and Science Cluster (Swarm DISC), an international consortium that - among other tasks - performs processing and QA of Swarm satellite data. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and ensuring the timely provision of data products derived from the Swarm satellite observations and managing the contracts with ESA and the involved subcontractors.
 
These tasks will be performed in close coordination with ESA and in cooperation with a dedicated and highly motivated team of experts in a professional, yet relaxed atmosphere.

Tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Communicating with international partners for the coordination of data processing tasks
  • Ensuring that all deliverables adhere to the adopted quality standards and procedures
  • Collecting and consolidating information from all partners into a single Progress Report at regular intervals
  • Administering contracts, milestones, deliverables, contract changes, payments …
  • Contributing to the on-going evolution of the Swarm data exploitation project
  • Participating in international meetings on the Swarm project, mainly in (but not limited to) Europe - 3 or 4 meetings on average per year
Our expectations of you
The successful applicant has an academic education, interest in natural sciences and a broad and comprehensive experience in managing projects with significant elements of research and development. Experience with international cooperation between multiple public and private partners is highly preferred.

Applicants shall have experience with an interest in, and basic knowledge of geophysical processes.
 
The applicant is expected to:
  • Demonstrate experience in project management, including planning, scheduling, reporting and basic contract management.
  • Possess personal and social qualifications as a team-player, be self-organizing and have good communication skills.
  • Demonstrate command of written and spoken technical English.

Salary and appointment terms
Your appointment will be based on the collective agreement between the Danish State and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
 
The position is situated at DTU Space, DTU Campus in Kongens Lyngby, north of Copenhagen.

The Geomagnetism Department at DTU Space currently holds 16 full-time employees (PhD students, postdocs, research assistants, scientists, engineers, administrative personnel) as well as 5-6 M.Sc. students.
