Researchers confirm Einstein’s theory through a rare observation near black hole

New observations of a black hole tearing apart a star confirm Einstein’s theory of curved spacetime and deepen our understanding of one of the Universe’s most enigmatic objects. The results are presented in a newly published study in Science Advances with contributions from researchers at DTU.

X-ray radiation triggered by the collision between a star and a black hole has been observed with the help of, among others, the NICER space telescope, mounted on the outside of the International Space Station, ISS. Photo: ESA/NASA
